My ONE Wish

MY ONE WISH

If I could have one wish for you,
and it could only be one wish –
It wouldn’t be that you’d be rich
beyond your wildest imaginations.
It wouldn’t be that you’d have
a big house or shiny, fancy cars.
It wouldn’t even be that you’d
have perfectly good health.

If I could have only one wish,
for you and those you love –
It wouldn’t be that you’d
get the job of your dreams.
It wouldn’t be that you’d find
true love or have ideal children.
It wouldn’t even be that you’d live
a long and prosperous life.

If there were just one wish –
the wish of my heart for you.
It wouldn’t be to never hurt,
or suffer, to never want,
or never know fear or loneliness.
It wouldn’t be that you’d be famous,
amass fortunes or amazing powers,
or even achieve grand affluence.

My one wish for you wouldn’t be
a life of plenty, or illustrious prosperity.
It wouldn’t be superior knowledge,
or a respected source of wisdom.
It wouldn’t be a magnetic personality,
or dazzling abilities of persuasion.
It wouldn’t be for beauty or wealth,
or a life of ease, or even peace.

If there were one wish I’d have for you,
it wouldn’t be to know cloudless days,
or rest-filled nights, or smooth sailing.
It wouldn’t be for you to never go hungry,
or not have aches and pains of old age,
or to never get wrinkles or go gray.
It wouldn’t even be that you’re never
wronged or taken advantage of.

My one wish for you is this alone –
That you would frequently feel
the love of God in your life.
That you would know His love –
the most sweet fruit, above all ever tasted.
For when His love encircles us,
we can overcome anything,
and accomplish everything.

And that, my friend, if I only had one wish,
would be my one and only wish for you.
