June 27, 1981 – a Magical Day
It happened in a temple nestled
in the bounties of the everlasting hills on June 27, 1981! Since then, through the ensuing 38
years, some of our highlights include two college degrees, six kids, four eagle
scout awards, two young woman’s medallions, four missions, and ten grandchildren. We’ve
visited, made friends or planted roots in Connecticut, New York, Vermont, Florida, Texas, No.
Carolina, Nebraska, Louisiana, India, China, Canada, Italy, Greece, Turkey,
Guatemala, Mexico, Mazatlán, Belize, Utah, California, Hawaii, Washington, Idaho
and beyond. We’ve experienced a hot air balloon ride, two international Olympics,
parachuting in Elsinore, snorkeling in the South Pacific, salmon fishing in
Alaska, duck hunting in Omaha, deer hunting in Colorado, snowmobiling in
Yellowstone, skied the greatest snow on earth, jet skied for miles on Lake Powell,
toured lots of ancient Indian ruins, climbed ancient pyramids, hiked around the
Grand Canyon, and quilted enough quilts to keep a small city in Alaska warm and
toasty in through a long winter. We’ve lived through and thrived after several job losses, financial
setbacks, a fire, a stroke, and commuting over the famous SR-91; We’ve built two
new houses, had our fair share of trials, but even more significant – we’ve had
an abundance of blessings, some miracles, increased faith, answers to prayers
and a surplus of lessons learned. Through it all, there are no regrets, and we
wouldn’t take back a single day. And still, we trust in the Lord, and know
there are many more good things to come. Sweetheart, I’ve loved you since high
school, I’ve loved you for the last 13,870 days, and I will love you Always and
Forever!
Happy Anniversary! Love, Calvin
